Apple has recently released new major iOS version, iOS 16. Due to the changes introduced on this iOS version, erasure is not currently supported when using the latest iOS 16 firmware files. Erasure with the latest firmware files will fail during the restore of the device.

We are actively working on this issue and will be releasing a targeted fix version to cover the support for iOS 16. The fix version will be Blancco Mobile Diagnostics and Erasure 4.12.1 and will be released as soon as possible.

As a workaround a Blancco version.xml should be used instead as it still provides the older iOS firmware version which still allows the devices to be processed normally. This can change without a further notice in case Apple stops signing the older firmware versions after which the older versions cannot be restored to the devices anymore. The version.xml source can be managed from the BMDE station's "System Settings" under the "Synchronization service" tab.

In case you have further questions or issues, please contact Blancco Technical Support.

Update 16 September 2022

Blancco Mobile Diagnostics and Erasure 4.12.1 was released as a targeted fix for this issue and adds support for iOS 16. Any BMDE station processing iOS devices should be updated to 4.12.1 as soon as possible in order to mitigate any possible issue related to the recently released iOS versions.

Once Apple stops signing the older iOS versions it is mandatory to have BMDE 4.12.1 in use in order to support the erasure for these devices.
