<span style="color: #000000">To erase a Microsoft Surface Pro device (using a version older than v6.3.0 *):</span>

1. <span style="color: #000000">Plug in a USB keyboard to the device.</span>
2. <span style="color: #000000">Power on the device and let it boot to the Windows login screen.</span>
3. <span style="color: #000000">Press the power icon on the bottom right corner of the screen. Hold down left shift key and select restart.</span>
4. <span style="color: #000000">The device should reboot into a blue "Choose an Option" screen</span>
5. <span style="color: #000000">Select "Troubleshoot" -> "Advanced Options" -> "UEFI Firmware Settings" -> "Restart".</span>
6. <span style="color: #000000">UEFI firmware setup screen should show up. Make sure that "Secure boot control" is disabled and save the settings.</span>
7. <span style="color: #000000">Shut down your Surface.</span>
8. <span style="color: #000000">Insert the bootable USB drive into the USB port on your Surface.</span>
9. <span style="color: #000000">Press and hold the volume-down button on Surface.</span>
10. <span style="color: #000000">While holding down the volume-down button, press and release the power button.</span>
11. <span style="color: #000000">The Microsoft or Surface logo appears on your screen. Continue to hold the volume-down button. Release the button once spinning dots appear beneath the logo.</span>
12. <span style="color: #000000">Follow the on-screen instructions to boot from your USB drive.</span>


<span style="color: #000000">To boot your Surface Pro 4 and 5 devices, perform the following steps:</span>

1. <span style="color: #000000">Plug in your bootable USB media.</span>
2. <span style="color: #000000">Hold the volume-up button and then press the power button once while still holding the volume-up button.</span>
3. <span style="color: #000000">Keep holding the volume-up button until the Surface UEFI screen displays.</span>
4. <span style="color: #000000">From here select Boot Configuration and drag USB storage to the top, select Exit and then select Restart Now.</span>
5. <span style="color: #000000">You should now boot from the attached USB device.</span>

<span style="color: #000000"> NOTE: If the system gets stuck at the Windows screen and will not continue booting from the USB, ensure that the Surface keyboard is not connected to the device.</span>

**<span style="color: #000000">*</span>**<span style="color: #000000"> Starting with Blancco Drive Eraser v6.3.0, the UEFI Secure Boot is fully supported. BDE will be able to boot on the machine whether the Secure Boot feature is enabled or not. Supports CD and USB booting only. Requires Blancco USB Creator v3.2.0 or higher.</span>
