The upcoming Blancco Drive Eraser 6.6.0 release, scheduled on Dec 17th, is not compatible with Blancco Management Console 4.7.1 or older. The Management Console installation needs to be updated to version 4.8.0, also scheduled on Dec 17th,  in order to send/save reports from Blancco Drive Eraser 6.6.0 to Management Console.  License consumption with the older versions of Management Console is still possible, but the reports will fail upon importing/sending with an error.

The Benefits to the BDE 6.6/BMC 4.8 upgrade are below:

- New digital signature upgrade, from SHA1 to SHA256 for added security
- Better performance
- Automatic fallback from NIST Purge to NIST Clear
- SMART tests for SATA drives

Blancco Cloud service ([cloud.blancco.com](http://cloud.blancco.com)) is scheduled to be updated to version 4.8.0 on the 23rd of December. If you are using Blancco Cloud for Drive Eraser licensing, it is not recommended to use Drive Eraser 6.6.0 before the Blancco Cloud has been updated to version 4.8.0.
