Drive Eraser 6.2.3 - Release notes

Bug fixes:

  • ALBUS-5409 - Fix for a problem where the first booting option ("Safe resolution") was used instead of the default one ("FLR during startup").
    • This occasionally caused unexpected black screens.
    • Occurred when CD/PXE booting a configured Drive Eraser image only.
    • The problem originated from Drive Eraser Configuration Tool 2.2.0. Fixed in Configuration Tool 2.2.1.
  • ALBUS-5410, ALBUS-5435 - Fix for a problem where some drives were not detected with 6.2.2 but were detected with 6.2.0/6.2.1.
    • Problem caused by undefined ATA SMART attributes values.
  • ALBUS-5243 - Fix for a problem where Seagate ST3500312CS drives being erased with "NIST Clear" froze at 50%.
    • Occurred with Drive Eraser 6.1.x images.
    • Also fixed in Drive Eraser 6.2.2.
  • ALBUS-5119, ALBUS-5389, ALBUS-5344, ALBUS-5110, ALBUS-5089, ALBUS-4833, ALBUS-5338, ALBUS-5403, ALBUS-5325 - Fix for several problems where Drive Eraser could not connect to a wired/wireless network.
    • Some of the symptoms:
    • Error "DNS server is not set" on Cloud-based images.
    • Cannot connect to a WiFi network.
    • MC hostname cannot be resolved.

Known issues:

  • If both a wired and wireless network are working, the tested machine has a wired and a wireless adapter and Drive Eraser is configured to connect to both networks, there are chances that no connection will be established at all.
    • The workaround consists in opening the Settings window and disabling one of the two connections ("Wired" or "Wireless" tab) via the "Enabled" checkbox.
