Important: Due to a new report digital signature, the Blancco Drive Eraser releases v6.6.0 and higher are not compatible with the Blancco Management Console 4.7.1 or lower (report importing and sending will fail consistently).

  • If you are using a local BMC and want to upgrade to BDE 6.6.0 or higher, please upgrade first to BMC 4.8.0 or higher.
  • If you are using the Blancco Cloud, it is fully compatible with BDE 6.6.0 and higher.
  • The BMC 4.8.0 and higher are fully compatible with all BDE releases (< 6.6.0 and >= 6.6.0).

Features:

  • ALBUS-2034, ALBUST-498 - Ability to format a drive after the erasure.
    • There is an option to reformat the drive after the erasure has taken place. For ATA drives only, the available formats are exFAT, FAT32 and NTFS.
  • ALBUS-5675 - Placeholders in the UI for empty erasure bays.
    • There is a new UI mode in the Erasure-step ("Show/Hide empty slots") that can display the empty erasure bays, empty bays are shown as "empty slot" placeholders.
  • ALBUS-6023 - Port mapping for erasure stations.
    • If BDE_HW is installed on a generic machine (not a Blancco hardware appliance), it will remember the first port mapping (between the physical drives and the drives displayed in the UI) on subsequent boots.
  • ALBUS-6024 - Show more drives in the UI.
    • More drives are now visible in the UI: 1-12 devices can be displayed without scrolling (and more on higher resolutions). The "Erasure Options" can be also be collapsed/expanded to free some space.
  • ALBUS-6185, ALBUS-6243 - Reporting additional system information.
    • Detecting and reporting the System SKU Number and the System Information Version.
  • ALBUS-6115 - Highlight mandatory custom fields.
    • Mandatory custom fields are now highlighted with a red border.
  • ALBUS-6382, ALBUS-6202, ALBUS-6282 - Improving the detection of video cards information.
    • The video card RAM and model detection has been improved on Nvidia, AMD and Intel video cards.
  • ALBUS-6048, ALBUS-6250, ALBUS-6251, ALBUST-499, ALBUST-507, ALBUST-509 - Support for additional languages.
    • The user interface is now localized in Polish and Hungarian. In addition, the user manual and the UI embedded help are now available in Slovak.

Bug fixes & Improvements:

  • ALBUS-5675, ALBUS-6023, ALBUS-6024 - As part of the UI improvements on this release, the default "Standard" UI mode of the Erasure-step has been removed. The only mode available in generic images is the "Advanced" mode.
  • ALBUS-6058 - When run, the drive SMART test has a status (successful or failed). This status is colored in green or red in the UI and PDF reports.
  • ALBUS-6035 - The subvendor_id, subdevice_id and subvendor_name information is fetched and reported for storage controllers, network interfaces, video cards and sound cards.
  • ALBUS-5957, ALBUS-5884 - Several models (e.g. Dell G3 3779 laptop, HP ZBook - MWS-041-Zbook 17 Mobile Workstation) were not able to boot BDE or the software was crashing one minute after booting (kernel panic).
  • ALBUS-6217 - Self-encrypting drives Samsung SATA SSD 840 PRO Series could not be purged (machine ended up in a black screen).
  • ALBUS-6200 - Improving the communication with the BMC in case the credentials were wrong and could lock the BMC account.
  • ALBUS-6308 - Improving the software stability not to crash it when disconnecting a drive during the verification phase.
  • ALBUS-5188 - The exception message "Remapped sectors area was not erased by the user" was sometimes not shown on old BDE versions.
  • ALBUS-5773 - Physical drives were not detected in Dell R440 server with PowerEdge RAID Controller (PERC H740P).
  • ALBUS-6312 - Improving the OPAL cryptographic erasure support in case the command return code is not OK.
  • ALBUS-5849 - BDE could not boot on AMD Ryzen 3 2200G.
  • ALBUS-6022 - There was a drive duplication in the ASUS T100TA tablet.
  • ALBUS-6299 - BDE could not boot on Lenovo L520 / L420.
  • ALBUS-5294 - If the "Erasure resume" feature was enabled and only one partition was being erased, the whole disk was erased after the erasure resumed.
  • ALBUS-6379 - The software was occasionally crashing during the Optical Drive test.
  • ALBUS-6450 - The software was occasionally crashing during the erasure (witnessed on a Sun Fire x4270 M3 with 4x 200Gb SATA SSDs erased with "NIST 800-88 Purge", crash occurred at ~30% of the erasure).
  • ALBUS-6360 - The booting worked fine but was slow on HP EliteBook 840 G1 and EliteBook 8460p machines.
  • ALBUS-6334 - The network connection was lost on machines with the Ethernet controller Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 10).
  • ALBUS-6431 - Removing from the report a "4096KB, Non-Volatile, Chip" from "Unknown Vendor" that was marked as RAM.
  • ALBUS-6455 - Occasionally, the "Open printer settings" button was missing from the "Settings" dialog window.
