The erasure time depends on the size of erased storage, the used erasure method and if several devices are erased at the same time using the same USB bus.
The used erasure method has the following impact:
- The "iOS smart reset" takes less than 1 minute if no user data is found on the device.
- The erasure standard "Apple iOS erasure" erases the device using Cryptographic Erase. This takes 5-15 minutes.
- The other erasure standards erase the device first with Cryptographic Erase and then overwrite the encrypted storage using the selected erasure standard. This takes 10-120 minutes.
