The iOS devices have encryption built between the flash storage and main system memory. For this reason iOS devices can be erased using Cryptographic Erase. This process obliterates the old AES-256 encryption keys, rendering all user data on the device cryptographically inaccessible.

In Blancco 5 Mobile 2.0 it is possible to erase iOS device using Cryptographic Erase, but in addition to that, it is also possible to erase the encrypted storage.

The erasure standards on iOS erase the device as follows:

    • "Apple iOS erasure" erases the device using Cryptographic Erase.
    • All other erasure standards erase the device first with Cryptographic Erase and then overwrite with the selected algorithm.
