  • Microsoft Surface Pro 1 is supported (since Blancco Drive Eraser / Blancco 5.4.0). Blancco Drive Eraser / Blancco 5 can boot, unlock and erase this tablet with the "Blancco SSD Erasure" standard.
  • Microsoft Surface Pro 2 is also supported. Blancco Drive Eraser / Blancco 5 can boot, unlock and erase this tablet with the "Blancco SSD Erasure" standard.
  • Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is not fully supported. Blancco Drive Eraser / Blancco 5 can boot on this tablet, unfortunately this tablet puts a freeze lock on the SSD, such lock cannot be removed and prevents any firmware-based erasure command from being executed (they always fail). Therefore the tablet cannot be erased with the "Blancco SSD Erasure" standard. Nevertheless, any standard that simply overwrites the SSD (e.g. “Aperiodic Random Overwrite”, HMG & DoD standards) will work on this device, providing at least a "clear-level" security (preventing keyboard-level attacks i.e. attempts to retrieve information using a data recovery software).
    • We have investigated this issue extensively to no avail. The problem lies on the tablet itself and cannot be worked around.

Regarding x86 tablets, note the following:

  • Many x86 tablets contain eMMC drives and for those drives only "clear-level" erasure is supported.
