Drive Eraser 6.7.0 / Configuration Tool 2.6.0 - Release notes

Features:

  • ALBUS-6002 - Improving the detection of faulty drives / Hotplug timeout
    • In case Blancco Drive Eraser - BDE is used to erase loose drives, there is a new setting "Hotplug timeout" to set the timeout before the detection of a newly plugged drive is stopped. Faulty drives are particularly slow to detect and this timeout will help to spot them before they compromise the stability of the software.
  • ALBUS-5249, ALBUST-469 - Hardware diagnostics: Webcam
    • BDE offers a new hardware diagnostic for the webcam. The user will be able to take snapshots to check the webcam condition.
  • ALBUS-5495, ALBUST-476 - Detect and erase attached flash devices
    • BDE can now detect flash devices connected to a machine (e.g. SD card in a laptop, USB stick plugged to the motherboard of a server, etc.). When detected, BDE will show a popup recommending to remove those devices that can contain user data. Flash devices can also be erased if this feature is enabled in Drive Eraser Configuration Tool.
  • ALBUS-6003 - Two-way communication: job specification on the drive level
    • The Two-Way Communication allows the customer's Asset Management System - AMS to send customized erasure settings (job specification) to BDE (through the Blancco Management Console - BMC). This process has been expanded to loose drives: the AMS can send customized erasure settings to loose drives connected to an erasure station.
  • ALBUS-6025 - Two-way communication: show the completed process without turning off the asset
    • Before, a machine running BDE with the "Two-Way Communication" was turned off at the end of the erasure process. The job specification can now be configured to let the machine turned on (idling) after a completed process.
  • ALBUS-3841, ALBUST-80 - Time zone support for reports
    • BDE has time zone support for reports. This is important to prevent time discrepancies in case the machine running BDE and the machine running BMC are in different time zones. In addition to this, the date/time/time zone are shown beside the icons in the BDE user interface.
  • ALBUS-6001, ALBUST-475 - Support for Slovak language
    • New language support, the user interface is now translated in Slovak.
